Flutes are in the Woodwind family which consists of many different instruments, such as the clarinet, saxophone, oboe etc. There are also many different types of flutes which are part of the Woodwind family.
Types of flutes:

Soprano flute

The bass flute is pitched in C, the lowest note is the C below middle C which is an octave below the concert flute.
Contra-alto Flute
This flute is pitched in G or F and the lowest note is the G or F which is an octave below middle C. This flute is commonly used in duets. In addition, more and more people are staring to use this instrument.

Contrabass Flute
The lowest note of the is the C which is two octaves below the middle C and this type of flute is pitched in C. The contrabass Flute are known for their great tone and balance.
Subcontrabass Flute
The lowest playable note on this flute is the G, which is an octave below the contra-alto flute. This flute is pitched in G.
Double contrabass Flute or Octobass Flute
The lowest note is the C which is three octaves below middle C and is pitched in C. This flute is said to be easy to play in comparison to other flutes. This flute also has a strong tone.

It’s pitched in C and the lowest note is the C which is four octaves below middle C. The Hyperbass flute is the lowest sounding and largest instrument that is in the flute family.
